Abstract
Artist and designer, Annie Trevillian presents an exhibition of screenprints on fabric and paper featuring work from 1983 -2006 in association with Megalo Gallery.
Annie is a local Canberra artist and lecturer in textiles at the ANU School of Art. The exhibition is accompanied by a colour catalogue, the cover designed and handprinted by the artist.
Annie’s work is inspired by her surroundings and the textile designs of the 1950s. Works such as her ‘How to be a Woman’ tea towel and her designs inspired by the plantings of Bass Gardens in Griffith, Canberra, should be familiar to many. She continually moves between many different ways of working – painting, drawing, screenprinting, computer work - in manipulating her imagery. However, despite extensive use of photographic and digital techniques, she says “I still keep coming back to something more personal, more physical, like the handprint” [Megalo media]
