Abstract

Marion Manifolds etchings of women's hats, sleeves and jabots placed on black Chantilly lace backgrounds, with accompanying lace, bead, braid and feather trimmings, re-interpret Theodore Adorno's poetic notion in which he compares the forgotten differences 'the eternal' to the 'lace trimmings on a dress'. In this manner, Manifold instils the essence of past and imaginary women and a sense of haunting beauty. [ICON PR]
