Abstract

The Australian born artist Rupert Bunny (1864-1947) lived in England and France for most of his working life. As well as paintings and drawings, this exhibition includes a selection of his monotypes. These were produced in London and Paris between 1898 and 1921 and were exhibited in England at Fine Art Society Gallery and Paris at the Galerie Gerorges Petit. In the 1940s, after his return to Australia, Bunny exhibited his early monotypes which provided a stimulus for Margaret Preston and Sidney Nolan to work in the technique.
