Abstract

This exhibition presents a small selection of works created as part of the APW Artist Fellowship Program, that premiered in the major exhibition 'New Australian Printmaking' at the National Gallery of Victoria (May-September 2022).

The APW Artist Fellowship Program (2017-2021) established the framework for the most ambitious multi-year, collaborative fine art print project ever undertaken at Australian Print Workshop.

The Program provided an exceptional opportunity for the selected artists - Megan Cope, Shaun Gladwell, Tim Maguire and Patricia Piccinini - to expand their practice into new territory. The artists worked in collaboration with APW’s team of highly skilled Printers to research, develop and create a major new body of work, and achieve their artistic vision through the artform of printmaking.

With the aim of delivering an enduring impact on contemporary Australian printmaking, the APW Artist Fellowship Program generated a substantial collection of over 100 new artworks of the highest quality and innovation. A complete suite of these original prints now resides in the permanent collection of the National Gallery of Victoria - offering an important and lasting public legacy of this significant program.

Australian Print Workshop is very proud to showcase, with this exhibition, a selection of the prints made during the APW Artist Fellowship Program.
