Abstract
2020 National Workson paper.
An MPRG exhibition
5 December 2020 - 21 February 2021
The Mornington Peninsula Regional Gallery’s National Works on Paper was established in 1998 and incorporated the former Spring Festival of Drawing and the Prints Acquisitive which began in 1973.
In 2020, as part of MPRG’s 50th anniversary celebrations, MPRG is holding the prestigious biennial National Works on Paper (NWOP) acquisitive exhibition. With a long and rich history, NWOP attracts leading artists from across Australia working in the fields of drawing, printmaking, digital prints and paper sculpture.
NWOP supports and promotes contemporary Australian artists working on or
with paper with up to $50,000 acquisitions and awards.
Canberra-based artist Annika Romeyn is the winner of the prestigious
National Works on Paper $15,000 major acquisitive award for her
multi-paneled work Endurance 5.
MPRG has also made the following acquisitions to the Collection: Suzanne Archer (NSW), Timothy Cook (NT), Robert Fielding (SA), Winsome Jobling (NT), Linda Puna (SA), Jenna Lee (VIC).

This diverse exhibition provides a survey of what’s happening in
contemporary art across Australia today. Traditional approaches to working
with paper are explored alongside works that incorporate new technologies,
pushing the boundaries of the medium and expanding our appreciation of what
working with and on paper can be.
The judges for this year’s award are Louise Tegart, Director Art Gallery of
Ballarat; Gina Mobayed, Director Goulburn Regional Art Gallery and Danny
Lacy, Artistic Director / Senior Curator Mornington Peninsula Regional
Gallery. [MPRG publicity]
