Abstract

A collection-based exhibition drawn from the Queensland Art Gallery’s holdings of miniature paintings from South Asia, Contemporary Miniatures explores the dynamic visual language of miniature painting and its continued importance in contemporary art practice. A significant thread in the exhibition is the citing of imagery, texts and events from the past to contextualise and comment on contemporary issues. This is a Queensland Art Gallery travelling exhibition, supported by the Visual Arts and Crafts Strategy, an initiative of the Australian, State and Territory Governments, administered by Arts Queensland.
