Abstract

In an deeply poignant year for the artist, Bombach salvages memories from her family home. Honouring her late centenarian parents, refugees from 1938 Vienna, the photographs, letters and pieces she recovered not only translate as a remarkably personal genealogy, but act also as a symbol of permanence and transition. From the Latin phrase meaning a reminder of mortality, Memento Mori embodies a rich generational and spiritual connection. [Artspace Mackay media].
