Abstract

Anna Eglitis is a well-known and beloved long-term Cairns resident, who as a teacherin the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art Department at Cairns TAFE for over 20 years, was instrumental in nurturing the unique talent of students, some of whom have received major Australian art awards and exhibited nationally and internationally. Anna retired from teaching in 2006, enabling her to focus on her own printmaking, exploring the beauty as well as degradation of the tropical Queensland paradise we live in. World Turned Upside Down features a selection of Anna's finest work. The exhibition will be opened by her long-time friend and printmaking colleague, Theo Tremblay, Master Printer at Editions Tremblay NFP. [exhibition publicity, 2017]
