Biography
Julia Church
Julia Church was born in London in 1959 and moved with her family to Australia in 1969. She studied at the Australian National University in 1977, and from 1979 to 1981 at the Canberra School of Art, where she completed a Diploma of Art with a photomedia major. In 1988 she commenced a Bachelor of Journalism at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, Melbourne.
Church has been involved with the formation of many print workshops including Acme Ink, Canberra, in 1981; Bloody Good Graffix and Jill Posters, Melbourne, in 1983; and Another Planet Posters, Melbourne, in 1985; and has participated in a host of community-related projects. In 1987 Church was awarded an Australia Council Travel Grant and spent six months researching community art and poster practices in Europe. She has exhibited her work regularly since 1980. Since the early 1990s she has lived in Italy.
