Biography
"Henry John Leplastrier was born in Camberwell, London 21 Sept. 1833, son of Louis Leplastrier, maker of chronometers in Shadwell, and Sophia Georgiana. The family left for Australia on the ship 'Lord Hungerford' (Captain Patterson) on 21 Oct 1848, arriving in Liardet's beach, now Port Melbourne 10 Feb 1849, 112 days from London. He married three times. Firstly to Elizabeth Skeeles who died 1880 (8 children), secondly to Frances Rowena Symonds who died 1901 (1 daughter Bessie Bell), and thirdly to Evelyn Winston in 1903. Henry John lived at various addresses in Melbourne's suburbs and moved to north Sydney in 1892. He died at Normanhurst, Sydney on 7 May 1915 and was buried at Gore Hill cemetery. During his working life he helped on his father's grazing farm, then in a solicitor's office, Messrs Moore and Chambers of Melbourne. In 1852 he started work at the Colonial Secretary's office, later moving to the Dept of Trade and Customs and became Inspector of Accounts, first Class, in 1888."
