Biography

Thomas W. Rider, who appears to have been in Sydney by 1836, was a self-taught artist, chiefly known for his lithographs and wood-engravings for the periodical 'Heads of the people', Sydney: W. Baker, 1847-48. He was a friend of William Baker, who had works by him in his collection. Thomas W. Rider does not appear to be related to the artist Thomas Tertius Rider (about 1822-1887) or his family.
