Richard Raffan
Richard Raffan was born at Zeal Monachorum, Devon, England, on 21 June 1943. A self-taught woodworker Richard Raffan left the London wine trade to devote himself to the medium in January 1970. He worked at the Sturt Workshops, Mittagong, NSW, from January to April 1977 and in 1982 returned to live permanently in Australia. He has a brother, Simon, also a woodworker, who established the wood turning workshop at the Cuppacumbalong Arts and Crafts Centre, Tharwa, ACT.
