Biography
L.G. Dalgarno
Lucie Gertrude Holdsworth was born on 6 October 1874 at Darlinghurst, Sydney. She was known to her family as Gertie. She married Charles Robert Dalgarno, a bank manager, in about 1900 and was widowed in 1912.
Working and exhibiting as L.G. Dalgarno she kept her family by the sale of painted, and batik decorated fabrics, shawls, jackets and other items of clothing and accessories. She also made painted kid jewellery and accessories.
In 1936 she travelled and worked in England and Europe for about two years. In 1939 she travelled extensively throughout the United States, and in Washington had the use of a studio during the summer vacation. In later years she devoted her time to painting.
