Biography

Born Hannelore Sophia Bangert, Jenny Christmann grew up in Hindenburg, Upper Silesia. In 1945 her family settled in Bremen, Germany untill she migrated to Sydney in 1955. Jenny met Gunter Christmann in 1963 and they married on the 5th of June 1967. From 1967 Jenny painted, but soon turned to soft sculpture, her knitted books being perhaps her best known works. Jenny died in Sydney on 6 July 2005.
