Biography

Benard engraved many of the plates for the Encyclopédie by Diderot & d'Alembert from 1751. He ran a sucessful engraving workshop in Paris. Works engraved by him are signed 'Benard fecit' those from his workshop, 'Benard Direx[it]'..
