Biography
PETER SCHARDIN, born 1945 Berlin, Germany arrived Australia 1966 first exhibited, 1991. My artistic and commercial photographic career spans over 45 years, some of my work practices include fine art photography, black & white and colour work. Printmaking became my passion in 1990, investigating and combining methods such as Etching, Mezzotint, Drypoint,on steel plates as well as Woodcuts and Serigraphs, combining printmaking and photography eg, Woodcut, Serigraph,Bichromate print and transfer on photographic materials, including photographic imagery. In 1991 I became actively involved in the local printmaking group Community Printmakers Murwillumbah Inc. (CPM) andArts Council organisation, pursuing organisational and artistic skills within the arts community and the CPM National Print Awards. I have been President of CPM for many years and enjoy showing new members various printmaking techniques. I have curated external exhibition and displays for the outreach program of the Tweed River Regional Art Gallery. In 2001, I curated a major exhibition for the Tweed Gallery, The Last 50 years, a survey exhibition of Thomas Pilgrim, past tutor, Queensland College of Arts, and in 2002 I once again curated an exhibition of Thomas Pilgrim’s work for the Queensland College of Art, Griffith University. From 1992 to 2014 I was the Gallery and Collection Technician at the Tweed Regional Art Gallery. [Impress Printmakers, 2019].
