Biography
The van Raalte Club, a photographic organization, was established in Perth in 1926 as the Dilettanti Club by August Knapp. Knapp believed that the Western Australian Camera Club, of which he was a member, did not concentrate on the art of photography. The Dilettanti Club with a membership limited to 12 was involved with pictorial photography. The name was changed to The van Raalte Club in 1929 after the death of Henri van Raalte a pioneer etcher and photographer in Perth.
