Biography
Nicolette Benjamin Black graduated from The Australian National University's Art School, in 2000, majoring in Painting and Paper, with minors in photography and digital art.
Artist's statement:
"Living in a rural area in New South Wales, Australia, I find the natural elements affect my life profoundly, especially the colours I use in my work, reminiscent of the colours of the drought I have been living in for the last seven years. I use fibres I find locally to make work. An environmentalist by religion, most of my work demands thought from my audience because the sources are different from the mainstream, I am informed and highly influenced by art history and contemporary thought."
