Biography
Nazareth Alfred
Nazareth Alfred was born on Waiben (Thursday Island) and grew up on Masig (Yorke Island), in the Torres Strait. She completed a Diploma of Applied Science (Museum Studies) before graduating from the University of Canberra with a degree in Applied Science, majoring in cultural heritage management. She is now the assistant curator of Indigenous Australian Art at the National Gallery of Victoria. Her art is inspired by the spirituality of her ancestors. Their relationship with the sea is especially important to her.
