The shell.

A huge dead limb lying in the foreground, in the centre the shell (i.e., hollow trunk of a dead tree) still standing fire-scarred, ant-eaten, having weathered a thousand storms, yet unbeaten – “the menace of the years finds, and shall find me, unafraid” – by contrast to the right a beautiful tree just beyond the sapling stage, to the left a giant Eucalypt in full strength, trees and a river in the distance. A truly fine effort, full of imagination.
