Laurie Nona

Laurie Nona was born on Waiben (Thursday Island) in 1974 of Badu (Mulgrave Island) decent. It was here that he spent his early childhood in the islands traditional cultural surroundings. He completed his education on Thursday Island and then at Saint Augustine’s College in Cairns. He is currently a Police Liaison Officer in Cairns, and in his spare time studies Indigenous Visual Arts with the Centre for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies at the Tropical North Queensland Institute of TAFE, Cairns.
