Born in Adelaide in 1933, Sydney Ball studied etching and lithography at the South Australian School of Art, 1962-63. In New York from 1963 to 1965, he studied lithogaphy and silkscreen printing at the Art Students League and participated in the lithography summer course at the Pratt Centre in 1964.
