Abstract

Brian Robinson and Joel Sam are both Cairns-based Torres Strait islander artists. In this exhibition they have used a variety of printmaking techniques including linoprint, etching and embossing – all techniques explored during time spent at Djumbunji Press KickArts Fine Art Printmaking studio.

Brian Robinson is a highly respected Torres Strait Islander artist and curator, with a practice spanning more than a decade. He is a multi-skilled contemporary artist whose practice includes painting, printmaking, sculpture and design. Joel Sam is a talented carver and printmaker whose art is inspired by his Torres Strait heritage and family totems.

Lagau Dunalaig is part of the Cairns Indigenous Art Fair 2010 (20 to 22 August)
