Abstract

Saskia Haalebos is a multidisciplinary artist who works with animation, book arts, film, performance, printmaking, text variously to explore themes of mortality, empathy and mis/communication. Haalebos’ recent works are a reflection of themes of personal grief, loss and memory following the passing of her Nan. Day Dreamer / Night Thinker explores through a poetic and concept - and process - driven curiosity of the way that we make sense of the world around us. By allowing these intersections to emerge across a range of media, including animation, book arts, text and printmaking, Haalebos employs poetic reflection and humour to contemplate questions of mortality, empathy and modes of mis/communication. Opening: Wednesday 12 July Join us from 5pm - 7pm, as we celebrate the opening of Day Dreamer / Night Thinker, to be opened by artist John Pratt.
